West Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College women's basketball team cruised to a 77-34 victory over crosstown foe University of St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 3-0 to start the year while the Blue Jays fall to 2-5 overall. Trinity returns to action on Monday for a 7 p.m. matchup versus Gordon College.
Four Bantams finished in double-figures while Trinity won the rebound battle by a staggering, 57-27 margin. Senior Becky Reifler (Garden City, N.Y.) turned in a game-high 13 points while classmate Erica Junquet (Monroe, N.J.) and sophomore Allie Morin (Westwood, Mass.) both finished with 11 and rookie Bailey Hyland (Broad Brook, Conn.) scored a career-high 10. Senior Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while junior Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) finished with nine points, five assists, four boards, three blocks and a pair of steals.
Trinity jumped out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter, holding the Blue Jays to a 2-of-17 shooting performance. The Bantams entered the half with a 41-12 lead and never looked back, scoring 36 points in the second half thanks to an 8-of-11 mark from beyond the arc.
