Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 71-41 victory over the visiting MCLA Trialblazers on Friday evening in non-conference womne's hoops action at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 14-4 on the year with its third consecutive win while MCLA falls to 4-11 on the year.
The Bantams were led in scoring by senior co-captain Erin Cunningham (Wilton, Conn.) who connected on 4-of-5 three pointers and finished with a game-high 14 points. Senior Becky Reifler (Garden City, N.Y.) and junior Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) both finished with eight points and three steals while Kabari and classmate Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) combined for 17 of Trinity's 42 rebounds. Rookie Bailey Hyland (Broad Brook, Conn.) padded the stat sheet with seven rebounds and a game-high seven assists.
MCLA was led by Courtney Pingelski (Mechanicville, N.Y.) who finished with eight points. L'Rae Brundige (Valley Falls, N.Y.) added seven points off the bench for the Trailblazers while Kylah Langston (East Hartford, Conn.) tallied a team-high three steals.
Trinity out-rebounded the Trailblazers by a 42-20 margin. The Bantams finished shooting 43.1% from the floor as a team, highlighted by a 10-for-21 night from distance, while holding MCLA to just a 33.3% clip from the field. Both teams combined for a staggering 45 turnovers while Trinity finished with 22 assists, its fourth-most on the year. The Bantams also tied a season-high for most steals in a game with 15.
The Bantams return to action tomorrow for a 1 p.m. game versus St. Joseph's (L.I.).
