Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Drops Heartbeaker At Hamilton

Clinton, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Michaela Giuttari (Warwick, R.I.) scored the game's only goal with just 10 seconds left in overtime to lead the Hamilton College Continentals to a 1-0 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this afternoon at Sage Rink.  Trinity drops to 2-10 overall and 0-8 in the NESCAC with its eighth setback in a row.  Hamilton, which sweeps the two-game series in Upstate New York having won last night's contest, 4-0.

Trinity forced the extra session despite a 36-16 shooting deficit through three periods.  Trinity had two close chances late in the game, including a one-on-one opportunity for sophomore forward Lauren Mac Master (St. Albert, Alberta) that she missed just to the right with just under five minutes remaining in the third period.  Trinity senior captain forward Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) hit the post on a breakaway in the final minute of overtime, and Continental sophomore goalie Sam Walther (Scituate, Mass.) stopped a Trinity shot by rookie defender Julia Lee (Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia) momenta later.  Hamilton took possession of the puck, and Giuttari quickly netted the clincher in transition.  Trinity sophomore goalie Kai-Lilly Karpman (Playa Del Rey, Calif.) made five of her 42 saves in overtime, while Walther finished with 20 stops.
