  • Wrestling Earns NWCA Division III Scholar Team Award, Sorensen and Reilly Named Scholar All-Americans

    Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling senior co-captains Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) and Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) were named as 2018-19 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar All-Americans, and joined classmates Joe Penna (Reading, Mass.), Mason Sangillo (Florham Park, N.J.), and sophomore Fumihiro Tamada (Okayama, Japan) on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Winter All-Academic Team.

    Providence, R.I. - Trinity College senior co-captains Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) and Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) each finished fourth in his weight bracket, as the Trinity College Bantams finished 14th of 17 teams in the team standings at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Wrestling Championships this weekend at Johnson and Wales University.
  • Trinity Wrestling Set For This Weekend's NCAA Regional Championships

    Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling team, led by Head Coach Marques Gales (6th season), takes to Providence, R.I. this weekend for the 2019 NCAA Division III Regional Championships, beginning on Saturday, February 23rd at Johnson & Wales. Seventeen teams from the Northeast and New York region, including the Bantams, will compete for the regional championship while each student-athlete wrestler will vie for one of the total of 180 spots in the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament on March 8-9 at Ferrum College in Virginia.

    Hartford, Conn. - Senior John Anderson (Brockton, Mass.) went 4-1 to finish as the 141-pound runner-up, as the Trinity College Bantams hosted and competed in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium.

    Hartford, Conn. - With the winter sports season entering the post-season push, this year's 21st Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the wrestling mat and the ice. Women's hockey sophomore Sierra Lee (Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia) and wrestling junior Steve Cerrone (Quechee, Vt.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.

    Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling squad was honored as a New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Team GPA Award recipient thanks to their 3.328 team GPA.  Trinity, coached by Marques Gales (6th Season), are 2-9 in dual matches this season with a pair of top-ten finishes at tournaments.  The Bantams head to Bridgewater State on Friday, February 8, for a tri-match with the Bears and Rhode Island College before hosting the NEWA Futurs Tournament on Sunday, February 17, in Oosting Gymnasium.
  • Trinity's Jack Reilly Named NEWA Wrestler of the Week

    Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College senior wrestling co-captain Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) has been named New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week. Reilly capped off a 2-0 weekend at a tri-match with Southern Maine and Western New England. He defeated the current No. 6-ranked 165-pounder of Southern Maine with a 4-0 decision and went on to win via fall in just 50 seconds against Western New England.

    Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College seniors Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) and Mason Sangillo (Florham Park, N.J.) won twice each, as the Trinity College Bantams hosted a wrestling tri-match with the University of Southern Maine Huskies and the Western New England University Golden Bears this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.

    Providence, R.I. - Senior co-captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) won five matches, two by fall and three by a combined score of 16-0, to win the 157-pound bracket in the USC Wildcat Open at Johnson and Wales University this afternoon.

    Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling squad dropped a dual-match to Oswego State, 27-16, on Saturday afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium in Hartford. The Bantams fall to 2-7 in dual competition while the Lakers improve to 6-6 on the year. Trinity gets right back to it as the Bantams travel to Johnson & Wales tomorrow for the USC Wildcat Open.
  • Wrestling Defeats RIC at NEWA Duals Championships, Sorensen Earns All-Tournament Honors

    Providence, R.I. - Trinity College wrestling senior co-captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) went 3-0 with two falls to earn All-Tournament honors as the Bantams picked up a victory over Rhode Island College on Sunday afternoon at the Headlock for Hunger New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals Championships in Providence, R.I. The Bantams also fell to Williams and Wesleyan on the day, moving 2-6 in dual matches this season. Rookie Kevin Lyskawa (Londonderry, N.H.) also added a third-place finish in the NEWA Individual Invitational tournament.

    Worcester, Mass. - The Trinity College wrestling team fell to WPI, RIT and Roger Williams on Saturday afternoon at a tri-match at the WPI Sports and Rec Center in Worcester. The Bantams fall to 1-4 in duals this season and return to action next weekend for the Headlock for Hunger NEWA Duals Championships in Providence.

Women's hockey junior goalie Kai-Lilly Karpman (Play Del Ray, Calif.) and wrestling senior co-captain Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.

    Springfield, Mass. – Senior co-captain Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) and first-year Alexander Steele (Fairfield, Conn.) each wo by fall to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 39-16 victory over the American International College Yellowjackets in wrestling action this afternoon at Butova Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 1-1, while the NCAA Division II Yellowjackets drop to 0-4.

    Rochester, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) finished third at 157 to lead the Trinity College wrestling team to a tie for 11th-place at the RIT Invitational on Saturday. The Bantams totaled 42 team points along with New England College to finish tied for 11th while WPI won the team title with 139.5 points.

In total, the Bantams hit the mat 14 times during the year, highlighted by trips to six invitationals and the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament, which will be hosted by the Bantams for the first time ever.
