Providence, R.I. - Trinity College wrestling senior co-captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) went 3-0 with two falls to earn All-Tournament honors as the Bantams picked up a victory over Rhode Island College on Sunday afternoon at the Headlock for Hunger New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals Championships in Providence, R.I. The Bantams also fell to Williams and Wesleyan on the day, moving 2-6 in dual matches this season. Rookie Kevin Lyskawa (Londonderry, N.H.) also added a third-place finish in the NEWA Individual Invitational tournament.
Sorensen earned all-tournament honors thanks to a perfect 3-0 day in which he recorded a pair of pins. Sorensen won via a 13-1 major decision at 157 in Trinity's loss to the Ephs and also recorded pins against Wesleyan and Rhode Island College. Rookie Anders Klass (Braintree, Mass.) won a major decision at 184 and sophomore John O'Brien (Reading, Mass.) earned a forfeit at heavyweight to cap off Trinity's scoring versus Williams. First-year Alexander Steele (Fairfield, Conn.) also earned victories for Trinity versus Williams and RIC at 133 pounds.
Junior Steve Cerrone (Quechee, Vt.) picked up a 10-3 decision at 174 versus the Cardinals as well as a pin versus RIC to go 2-1 on the day while Lyskawa had a strong showing in the individual tournament. Lyskawa went 3-1 with two falls to earn a third-place finish in the invitational.
Trinity returns to action next Saturday for a home tri-match versus Oswego St. and Mt. St. Vincent.
