Springfield, Mass. – Senior co-captain Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) and first-year Alexander Steele (Fairfield, Conn.) each wo by fall to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 39-16 victory over the American International College Yellowjackets in wrestling action this afternoon at Butova Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 1-1, while the NCAA Division II Yellowjackets drop to 0-4. Trinity will face Rochester Tech, Roger Williams University, and the host Engineers in a quad match at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, January 12 at 11 a.m. in its next competition.
Steele enjoyed a stellar collegiate debut with a pin in 2:54 over AIC’s Ahmed Hernandez in the 133-pound bout, while Reilly continued his hot streak after a 5-1 record at the Waynesburg Invitational over the weekend with a pin just 35 seconds into the 165-pound match against Yellowjacket freshman Rafiq Conway. Trinity junior 174-pounder Steve Cerrone (Quechee, Vt.) added three points with a 6-0 decision, and four Bantams collected six points each due to AIC forfeits.
