Wrestling Places 11th in Doug Parker Invitational

Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College wrestling program completed its first tournament of the 2019-20 campaign Saturday afternoon, competing in the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College. Wrestling against some of the top programs in New England, the Bantams finished 11th out of 15 teams on the day, earning a final point tally of 54.5.

Coast Guard (141.3) took this year's Doug Parker Invitational crown, with New England College (102) and Western New England (91) rounding out the top three. Trinity was less than ten points away from Rhode Island College (67.5), placing ahead of Springfield Tech, American International, Johns Hopkins, and Plymouth State.

The Bantams were paced by a handful of underclassmen, with four sophomores and a first-year picking up individual victories. Sophomore Kevin Lyskawa (Londonderry, N.H.) had one of the best showings of the afternoon for the Bantams, winning three decisions and advancing to the 157-weight class finals. First-year Nico Patch (Oswego, Ill.) picked up his second collegiate win in the 149-weight class, downing Albert Xing of Williams 7-2 before falling in the semifinal round. Sophomore Michael Fernandez Ravelo (Coral Gables, Fla.) also picked up a win in 174's, defeating Grant Walnoha of Johns Hopkins 9-6. Sophomore Anders Klass (Braintree, Mass.) won in style in the 184-weight class, picking up a quarterfinal win over Christian Beer, 16-0.

The Bantams return to the mat one last time before the winter break, traveling to Rochester Tech for the RIT Invitational. Meet time is set for 9 a.m.
