Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College wrestling program competed in its first home contest of the season, falling narrowly to New England College 21-19. The Bantams were forced to forfeit in both the 125-133 weight class, but after trailing 21-0 at the meet’s midway point, battled back and nearly completed the comeback.
After a convincing 17-9 victory from senior Lukas Kaminski (Hopkinton, Mass.), sophomore Kevin Lyskawa (Londonderry, N.H.) won 8-4 in the 174-weight class. First-year Isiah Bailey (Westerly, R.I.) impressed yet again, jumping up from 174 and handling Pilgrim Malik Settles in the 184-weight class. Sophomore Anders Class (Braintre, Mass.) competed in the 197-weight class, and was able to pin NEC’s Aaron Diaz to pull the Bantams within five. Junior John O’Brien (Reading, Mass.) defeated Francis Boahen, but the Bantams fell four points short of a win.
Trinity returns to the mat this Saturday, traveling to Ursinus to compete in the North/South Duels. Meet time is slotted for 10 a.m.
