Trinity Takes Downs Two Top-15 Crews In Women's Rowing Races At Tufts

Malden, Mass. - The Trinity College women's varsity eight took down two opponents ranked among the top 15 in the nation this morning on Malden River, as the Bantams bested the No. 14-ranked United States Coast Guard Academy Bears and the No. 7-ranked Tufts University Jumbos in separate women's rowing races this morning.  Trinity crushed Coast Guard by 16.47 seconds with a time of 7:18.01 and edged the Jumbos by just .69 seconds.  Tufts defeated Coast Guard in the other varsity-eight race.  The course was flat with a very slight cross tail wind for the first 500 meters.

Trinity's other boats also competed against the Bears and the Jumbos, and the Bantam second-varsity eight won against Coast Guard by 1.72 seconds wiith a time of 7:33.10.  Trinity lost to Tufts in the second-, third-, and fourth-varsity eight races by over 20 seconds in each race.  The Bantam schedule gets even tougher next week, when they wll compete in a four-boat race against top-ranked Bates, No. 3-ranked Worcester Tech, and No. 8-ranked Wellesley on Sunday, April 14 on Lake Quinsigamond.
