East Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College womens rowing team opened the 2019-20 season with the Head of the Riverfront Regatta on the Connecticut River. The Bantams entered three boats in the open four, and its "A" boat came in second place in the field of 22 crews with a time of 19:39.30. The Bantam crew was 11.16 seconds behind first-place Smith and 23.69 seconds faster than third-place Massachusetts. Trinity's "B" crew was eighth with a time of 20:33.79 and its "C" entry came in 16th place at 21:47.62.
"I was really pleased with the way our women started their season today.," said Trinity Head Coach Heather Barney. "I know we’ve got more speed to find in all three crews, but the athletes went out and executed in the way that we asked them to today, and posted some strong results for so early in the season. We’re looking forward to seeing them continue to develop over the next three weeks as we head into the remainder of our fall season and, most importantly, lay the groundwork for the spring. Next week we head to Worcester for the Quinsigamond Snake, where we again anticipate racing three fours."
