Women's Squash Advances to NESCAC Championship Final with Two Wins

Williamstown, Mass. – The top-seeded Trinity College women's squash defeated eighth-seeded Colby, 8-1, in the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship this afternoon at Williams College. After the opening victory, the Bantams cruised to a 9-0 triumph over fourth-seeded Bates to advance to tomorrow's NESCAC finals versus the host Ephs at 9:00 a.m.

In the match versus the Mules, Trinity won the matches at No. 1 – No. 8 in three games with no Bantam surrendering more than seven points in any game. Senior Chanel Erasmus (Capetown, South Africa) and sophomore Alexia Echeverria (San Salvador, El Salvador) were dominant for the Bantams, winning their two matches by scores of 33-4 and 33-5, respectively.

Against the Bobcats in the semifinals, the team won all nine matches in three games. Senior co-captain Ashley Tidman (Lamor-Plage, France) won her match by a combined score of 33-6 at No. 4 and  first-year Salma El Defrawy (Cairo, Egypt) took her contest by a score of 33-10 at No. 5.
