Trinity Women's Squash Blanks Penn In Howe Cup Quarterfinals

New Haven, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams blanked the University of Pennsylvania, 9-0, in the quarterfinal round of the 2020 College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championship (Howe Cup) Tournament this afternoon on Yale University's Brady Courts.  No. 4-seeded Trinity improves to 15-3 and looks forward to facing top-seeded Harvard in the semifinals tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.  Penn drops to 8-6 and will face No. 8-seeded  Columbia in the tournament’s consolation semi-finals.  Harvard defeated Trinity in Hartford, 8-1, 16 days ago.

Five Bantams posted 3-0 victories, including junior Min Jie Teh (Klang, Malaysia) at the top of the ladder, senior tri-captain Vanessa Raj (Penang, Malaysia), sophomores Ashita Benghra (Chennai, India), Sarahi Lopez (Zappopa, Mexico) and Nadiia Usenko (Kiev, Ukraine).  Bantam senior tri-captain Lakeesha Rarere (Hastings, New Zeland) and junior Akanksha Salunkhe (Vasco Da Gama, India) both pulled out 3-2 wins, and Salunkhe had to recover from a 2-0 deficit to earn her win.  Trinity sophomore Amina Taher (Alexandria, Egypt) and first-year Nanna Carleke (Stockholm, Sweden) rounded out the scoring with 3-1 triumphs.
