Trinity Women's Squash Wins At No 8-Ranked Columbia

New York, N.Y. - Senior tri-captain Vanessa Raj (Penang, Malaysia) dominated the No. 5 match with an 11-5, 11-4, 11-8 victory over Bunny Fox to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 7-2 win over the Columbia University Lions in women's squash action this afternoon at SL Green StreetSquash Center this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improves to 8-0 despite allowing its first points of the season.  The No. 8-ranked Lions fall to 7-2 with their first loss in six matches.  Trinity hosts No. 7-ranked Pennsylvania in its next match on Saturday at 11 a.m.  

Trinity swept the top third with 3-0 wins by juniors Min Jie Teh (Klang, Malaysia) and Akanksha Salunkhe (Vasco de Gama, India) and sophomore Sarahi Lopez (Zapopan, Mexico), respectively.  Teh, ranked No. 7 in the nation at the end of last year, downed No. 15-ranked Habiba Mohamed at the top of the ladder, and Salunkhe, ranked No. 18, bested No. 27-ranked Nicole Kendall.  Bantam senior tri-captain Lakeesha Rarere (Hastings, New Zealand) also earned a 3-0 triumph, besting Ellie McVeigh at No. 6.  No. 32-ranked Jui Kalgutkar defeated Bantam sophomore Nadiia Usenko (Kiev, Ukraine), ranked No. 29, 3-1 in the No. 4 match.  Sophomore Amina Taher (Alexandria, Egypt) and first-year Nanna Carleke (Karlskrona, Sweden) also won for Trinity.
