Trinity Swimming and Diving Hosts Free Water Safety Clinic

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College swimming and diving teams hosted a free water safety clinic for children in the Hartford area last month at the Trinity Natatorium in Ferris Athletic Center. The Bantams teamed up with the Theta Alpha Sigma alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority to host SWIM 1922, an event dedicated to teaching children between the ages of 6 and 15 basic water safety skills that are needed to prevent drowning and other aquatic dangers.

The event was started by Sigma Gamma Rho, in partnership with USA Swimming, to promote healthy living and lifestyles while diversifying competitive swimming and providing drowning prevention along with water safety. Trinity provided the facility for the event while four women's team members acted as in-water instructors. Bantam team members included women's sophomores Audrey Ettinger (New Canaan, Conn.) and Julia Albino (Southbury, Conn.), rookie Nicole Cannon (Thornton, Pa.) and men's rookie Blake Jamilkowski (New York, N.Y.).
