Trinity Women's Swimming And Diving Defeats Mount Holyoke In Tri-Meet At Vassar

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - First-year Samantha McStocker (Weston, Conn.) won the backstroke at both 100 and 200 yards to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 206-93 victory over the Mount Holyoke College Lyons in a women's swimming and diving tri-meet at Vassar College this afternoon.  The Bantams, which also dropped a 185-113 decision against the host Brewers, are now 2-5.  Vassar also won against Mount Holyoke 211.5 to 84.5.

McStocker won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.55 and the 200-yard back at 2:09.49.  Trinity sophomore Audrey Ettinger (New Canaan, Conn.) posted second-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly races, and rookie Lia Urban-Spillane (Rochester, N.Y.) was second off both the one- and three-meter diving boards.  Bantam sophomore Nina Tzianabos (Reading, Mass.) added a second-place time of 25.60 in the 50-yard free, and rookie Nicole Cannon (Thornton, Pa.) registered a second-place time of 2:23.92 in the 200-yard individula medley.  In relays, Trinity opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, swam by Tzianabos, classmate Julia Albino (Southbury, Conn.), Cannon, and McStocker and had two foursomes place ahead of any Mount Holyoke groups in second and third overall, respectively.
