Trinity Women's Swimming And Diving Ties Colby

Middletown, Conn. - First-year Samantha McStocker (Weston, Conn.) won the 100-yard backstroke and finished second and third in the 100-yard IM and the 200-yard back, respectively, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 186-186 tie against the Colby College Mules in a women's swimming and diving quad meet at Wesleyan University this weekend.  Trinity trailed Colby, 64-50, after Friday night's session but outscored the Mules, 136-122, today to pull even.  The Bantams also lost to the Bowdoin College Polar Bears, 268-106, and are 2-6-1 in dual meets with one remaining next Saturday at Connecticut College at 1 p.m.  The team scores between Trinity and Wesleyan were not recorded.  McStocker set a new Trinity record with her time of 1:01.89 in the 100-yard individual medley on Friday that was just .35 seconds shy of the winner.   

Fellow Trinity rookie Nicole Cannon (Thornton, Pa.) finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 32.12, just .35 seconds behind the first-place pace, on Friday and added third-place swims of 1:11.62 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:34.71 in the 200-yard breast today.  Bantam sophomore Audrey Ettinger (New Canaan, Conn.) added a third-place time of 4:51.77 in the 400-yard IM, while freshman Grace Gorman (Sudbury, Mass.) was fifth in the 100-yard back and sixth in the 50-yard free, sophomore Nicole Albino (Southbury, Conn.) came in fifth in the 50-yard butterfly, and first-year Katherine Greer (Summit, N.J.) placed sixth in the 1,000-yard free.  In diving, rookie Lia Urban-Spillane (Rochester, N.Y.) earned a second-place score of 222.25 off the one-meter board and a fourth-place scpre of 220.25 from three meters for the Bantams.
