Trinity Women's Swimming Closes Dual-Meet Schedule With Setback At Colby

Waterville, Maine - Sophomore diver Lia Urban-Spillane (Rochester, N.Y.) won both diving events and first-year Serena Ly (West Newton, Mass.) won both breaststroke races, as the visiting Trinity College Bantams closed the women's swimming and diving dual-meet schedule with a 183-117 setback against the Colby College Mules this afternoon.  Trinity finishes with a 3-5 dual record, and will race in the Tech Sprints at Worcester Poytechnic Institute on Saturday, February 2.  Urban-Spillane won the one-meter diving with a score of 230.35 and the three-meter at 244.35.  Ly finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 1:09.85 and won the 200-yard breast with a lifetime-best time of 2:34.20.

Trinity sophomore Katherine Greer (Summit, N.J.) and rookie Zory Matlashewski (Anoka, Minn.) both posted a pair of runner-up swims, while four other Bantams were second in an individual race.  Greer finished second in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:20.01 and the 500-yard free at 5:31.75.  Matlashewski touched second in the 1,650-yard free at 18:30.58 and in the 200-yard IM at 2:15.24.  Sophomore Grace Gorman (Sudbury, Mass.) placed second in the 100-yard back (1:03.08), first-year Aurelia Umholtz (Flagstaff, Ariz.) was second in the 200-yard free (1:59.55), first-year Olivia Fournier (Southington, Conn.) finished second in the 50-yard free (25.68), and first-year Ruby Schiller (Cambridge, Mass.) came in second in the 100-yard fly (1:00.85) for the Bantams.  Gorman and Fournier also each swam a leg of Trinity's second-place relays in the 200-yard medley and the 400-yard freestyle races.
