Springfield, Mass. - Senior captain Mary Daly (Madison, Wisc.) won the 1,000-yard run and sophomore Katie Tonyai (Jaffrey, N.H.) won the 400-meter dash to lead the Trinity College Bantams to third place in the team standings at the Springfield College Women's Indoor Track and Field Invitational III this afternoon. Trinity totaled 102 points and host Pride had 179 points.
Trinity freshman Katie Lee (Sudbury, Mass.) came just 0.03 seconds short of winning the 200-meter dash with a second-place time of 27.62, and Tanyai followed that with her first-place time of 1:02.22 over 400 meters followed by senior Elizabeth Lyons (Pembroke, Mass.) at 1:04.42 in third place. Daly, whose winning time in the 1,000 meters was 3:01.81, also ran a leg of Trinity's first-place 4x400-meter relay that earned a time of 4:11.01.
In the hurdles, Bantam sophomore Leah McIntosh (West Palm Beach, Fla.) was third at 10.21, rookie pole vaulter Kathrina Slater (Portland, Oregon) placed second at 8'06.25", and senior captain Lily Talesnick (Denver, Colo.) excelled in the throws with a second-place heave of 38'00.00" in the shot put and a third-place distance of 44'02.00" in the weight throw.
