Northampton, Mass. - The Trinity College women's track and field team returned to action on Saturday with a sixth place finish at the Smith Indoor Invitational in Northampton. The Bantams finished with 43 points and saw a handful of impressive performances in the team's first meet of the 2019 calendar year. The Bantams return to action next weekend for the Massasoit Invitational at Springfield College.
"It was fun to get back on the track and compete," said Head Coach John Michael Mason (1st season). "We had a good week of practice in Florida at the National Training Center and were able to shake the rust off here at Smith before classes start. The team is ready for a great semester."
Senior Lauren Barrett (Peabody, Mass.) helped lead the squad with a first place finish in the 5000-meter run, finishing in 18:51.99, almost 20 seconds ahead of the field. Classmates Morgan Hallow (Charlotte, N.C.) and Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) went 2-3, respectively, in the 600-meter run, finishing neck-and-neck separated by just .27 seconds.
Hallow also returned to form with a first-place effort in the 200-meter dash with a finals time of 26.37. Senior Caroline Sullivan (South Hadley, Mass.) turned in a top-five finish in the 3000-meter run with an 11:19.70 finals time.
