Boston, Mass. - Senior Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) and junior Morgan Hallow (Charlotte, N.C.) both set new indoor records for the Trinity College track and field team on Friday at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. The Bantams had a strong day of competition at the event which featured athletes from schools across all divisions. The Bantams return to action tomorrow for the MIT Gordon Kelly Invitational.
Hallow shattered her previous college record in the 400 with a time of 57.48, beating her previous mark of 58.03. Hallow's performance placed her in the top-40 of all competing athletes in the event. Hallow also went 25.62 in the 200-meter dash Barnes etched her name in the college record book for the 1K, crossing the finish line in 2:59.01, taking down the previous record of 2:59.11 which has stood since 2009. Also in the 1K, first-year Izzy Montes de Oca (Carpinteria, Calif.) had a strong outing with a 3:06.68 finish. Senior co-captain Lauren Barrett (Peabody, Mass.) led Bantam harriers with a 5:18.13 mile run.
