Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College volleyball team has announced the hiring of Kevin Kustura as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2019 season. The Bantams, led by Head Coach Jen Bowman (15th season), finished the 2018 season with a 13-11 record and qualified for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament for the first time since the fall of 2014.
Kustura joins the coaching staff after over three years of coaching experience across all NCAA divisions. He most recently was the graduate assistant coach at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio for both the men's and women's squads. Kustura began there in August 2018 and helped coach four American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DIII All-Americans on the women's side. Prior to Wittenberg, he spent the fall of 2017 at St. Mary's University in San Antonio as a graduate assistant, helping the program to its first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance since 2011. Kustura earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from California Baptist University where he was a four year member of the volleyball program and a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic honoree. Kustura earned a master's degree from Wittenberg in athletic coaching and also is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with experience in the strength and conditioning program at the University of Colorado.
