Volleyball Splits Saturday’s Tri-Match

Hartford, Conn. — The Trinity College women’s volleyball program responded after losing to Kean University with its third straight-set victory of the week, downing UMass-Boston 3-0 to split Saturday’ tri-match. The Bantams dropped its first contest of the day to Kean 3-0, but surged back in game two, seeing an outstanding performance from sophomore Ally Conde (Killingly, Conn.).

The Bantams fall in three sets to Kean University in game one, hitting just .111 as a team. After the opening two sets were decided by four points or less, the Cougars put away set three by a score of 25-18.

Game two was a completely different story; the Bantams hit .150 as a team, but was paced by Conde. The sophomore finished the contest with a game-high 14 kills, hitting .343 on 35 total attempts and just two hitting errors. The Beacons played a close first set, but Trinity dominated set two, winning 25-9, and closed out set three with a 25-22 victory. 

Sophomore Hareena Johnson finished the afternoon with 11 kills total, trailing Conde’s 23. Junior setter Jessica Yang (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) finished game one with 16 assists, and sophomore Locke Luhnow (Los Angeles, Calif.) paced game two with 24 assists.

The Bantams are back in action on Friday, hosting Middlebury for its third NESCAC contest of the season. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
