Hartford, Conn. – In game two of the Wesleyan Invitational, the Trinity College women’s volleyball program faced its second straight nationally-ranked program, falling to Johnson & Wales 3-0. The Bantams (7-12) continue its toughest stretch of its 2019 campaign this weekend, wrapping up with #14 Juniata on Saturday.
Senior Colette Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) led the team offensively on the afternoon, registering nine kills and a .154 hitting percentage. The Bantams hit just .095 on the afternoon but were able to stay within 12 points in each set.
The Wildcats (17-3) were able to cruise through the opening two set, seeing an efficient .363 hitting percentage. Senior Maria Conigilio (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) had a stellar afternoon, registering 14 kills and hitting an even .500 percent and adding a team-high nine digs and a solo block.
The Bantams held with Johnson & Wales through the second set, keeping the game close through the opening ten points, but was unable to get anything going on the afternoon.
Trinity closes out the Wesleyan Invitational Saturday afternoon, taking on #14 Juniata at 1 p.m.
