Volleyball Weekly Preview

This Week: The Trinity College volleyball program will look to regroup from last weekend’s sweep, traveling 20 minutes down the road to play three nationally-ranked teams in the Wesleyan Invitational. The Bantams will take on #24 Wesleyan Thursday night at 7 p.m., and will play a non-league slate the rest of the weekend, seeing #18 Johnson & Wales Friday and #14 Juniata Saturday afternoon. Trinity this season is 7-4 against non-conference opponents, and will look for its first NESCAC win of the season against the #24 Cardinals.

Trinity (7-10) at #24 Wesleyan (15-2)

Wesleyan Series History: Since 1985, the Cardinals have had Trinity’s record; the Bantams are 19-49 all-time against Wesleyan.

Recent History: Trinity’s last win against Wesleyan came in 2014; last season, the Cardinals dropped the Bantams 3-1.

Johnson & Wales Series History: Dating back to its first meeting in 1998, the Bantams are a perfect 3-0 against Johnson & Wales

Recent History: The two programs met last in 2013, with the Bantams coming away with a 3-0 victory.

Juniata Series History: This will be the first meeting between the two programs.

 

 

Notes and numbers:

  • Trinity’s last win came against a non-league opponent in UMass Boston; it hasn’t played a road game since September 27th.
  • Sophomore Ally Conde (Killingly, Conn.) is tied for second in the NESCAC with 48 blocks; she currently sits second on the team with 126 kills and a hitting percentage of .206
  • The Bantams raised its team hitting percentage to .129 after three close sets with #13 Tufts, and currently is averaging 2.5 aces per set and 17.47 digs per set
  • This is the first time in three years that Trinity has taken part in the Wesleyan Invitational
