Trinity's Feenstra Ready For NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship Meet

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College women's cross country co-captain Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) has been selected as an at-large participant in the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet that will take place on Saturday, November 23 in Louisville, Kentucky.  Feenstra finished twelfth in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships on Saturday, November 16 to earn her spot as one of the top-seven individuals from the regional who are not part of a participating team at the National meet.  Spalding University and the Louisville Sports Commission are hosting the men's and women's championships at Tom Sawyer State Park.  The women's race will begin at 11:45 a.m. Eastern time.

Feenstra posted a time of 21:49.71 in the NCAA Regional Meet at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine to lead the Bantams to a 14th-place finish as a squad, and earned All-New England recognition for her outstanding performance.  She was less than a second out of 11th place and more than six seconds faster than the 13th-place finisher.  Feenstra bested her own Trinity record for the 6,000-meter race by 19 seconds to become the first Bantam among the top 20 at the New England Championships since 2004.  She was also selected as the Trackyack.com Female Performer of the Week for her outstanding effort.  This fall, Feenstra won the UNE Invitational in Maine and the Tri-State Invitational in Rhode Island this fall and originally set a new Trinity 6,000-meter record with a time of 22:08.5 in the Connecticut College Invitational.
