Feenstra Receives USTFCCCA All-Regional Honors For Women's Cross Country

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College senior co-captain Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) New England All-Regional Women's Cross Country Team for her outstanding performance in the NCAA Division III Regional Championship Meet at Bowdoin College.  Feenstra was less than a second out of 11th place and more than six seconds faster than the 13th-place finisher.  She bested her own Trinity record for the 6,000-meter race by 19 seconds to become the first Bantam among the top 20 at the New England Women's Championships since 2004.  

Feenstra was selected as an at-large participant in the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet in Louisville, Kentucky, as one of the top-seven individuals from the Regional who are not part of a participating team at the National Meet.  Trinity's first female competitor in the National Meet since 2004, she posted a 118th-place time of 22:59.6on the muddy and slippery course in a steady rain.  Also this fall, Feenstra won the UNE Invitational in Maine and the Tri-State Invitational in Rhode Island and originally set a new Trinity 6,000-meter record with a time of 22:08.5 in the Connecticut College Invitational.  She added a 15th-place finish at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships.  A graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School, Feenstra has received both NESCAC and USTFCCCA All-Academic honors as a psychology major at Trinity.  She is the daughter of Kathy and Mark Feenstra.
