Brendan Weir

Brendan Weir enters his first season as head coach of Trinity College wrestling in 2026-27 after five seasons as a full-time assistant coach on Sebastian “Sebby” Amato’s staff. Weir was promoted to head coach in September 2026 following Amato’s retirement. He joined Trinity in 2021 after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant with the wrestling program at Western New England University, where he helped coach three All-Americans and seven Scholar All-Americans.

During the 2025-26 season, Weir helped guide the Bantams to five New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) All-Conference selections and 14 NEWA All-Academic honorees. Sophomore Ty Trickle earned Second Team All-NEWA honors after compiling a 23-10 record at 141 pounds. Trickle placed third at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships to qualify for the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, where he earned a victory in the consolation bracket. He finished the season tied for 10th in program history for single-season wins and earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American recognition for the second consecutive year. First-year Nicholas Ebrahimi earned a spot on the NEWA All-Rookie Team and was also named an NWCA Scholar All-American. Matthew Carrozza, Emre Sensoy, and Alex Schaeublin received All-NEWA Honorable Mention recognition.

Weir graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 2019 with a degree in athletic training and earned a master's degree in sport leadership and coaching from Western New England. A team captain at Southern Maine, he was a two-time Northeast Region placewinner and earned NEWA All-Conference and All-Academic recognition three times apiece. Weir received NWCA Scholar All-American honors in 2016 and the Albert D. Bean Jr. Leadership Award while competing for the Huskies. He also has coaching experience with the Baystate Wrestling Club.
